Have you ever worked on a project, where you stop knitting every few rows just to say, "Damn, that looks awesome! ?" This is how I feel about my Rivendell socks. The pattern is simply gorgeous. The yarn (Shibui Knits Sock in Wasabi) is delightfully squishy and has a fabulous color. I can't decide if I love these socks because they are simply awesome, because I'm knitting socks an Addi Turbos again (Glory be!), or if it's because I've had the yarn and pattern combination picked out and ready to knit for about two years. I was eyeing these before I ever learned how to knit socks and before I had ever tried cableing or cluster stitches. I was waiting--waiting for a time when I would have enough experience, time, and confidence to tackle these gorgeous socks. Well the time has come, and I'm finding these rather easy and enjoyable to knit.
I simply wish I could get a better picture. But we'll save the good pictures for the finished socks.

So lovely!
I am so happy to have stumbled upon your blog! I too am a Catholic stay-at-home mom who loves to craft, although I am not quite so skilled with yarn! I will be following your blog and drawing inspiration.
My sister and I recently got the itch to blog for the same reasons as you--to celebrate the vocation of wife and mother, while showcasing the things we love. Feel free to stop by! http://dosmallthingswithlove.blogspot.com/
Oh man. Those socks are totally awesome. Second the love for the color and the addi turbos. I've sometimes had a hard time finding good shades of green, but the one you've got looks perfect.
Plus, LotR reference. Everyone needs some nerd socks.
